2005 DATA SYNOPSIS
Data was collected as part of basin wide synoptic grab sample events in May, July and September. All three events included the following field chemistry parameters: temperature, pH, dissolved oxygen, and conductivity. Field observations were generally made for stream flow, turbidity and rainfall. In addition, grab samples were collected for parameters based on seasonal priority. These are detailed below.
The spring event occured on May 21st with a total of 88 sites reporting. All sites were analyzed for triazine herbicide 2,4 D herbicide and estradiol 17B. A total of 25 sites indicated the presence of triazine. A total of 4 sites tested positive for 2,4 D herbicide. A total of 13 sites indicated the presence of estradiol 17B. The complete data set for this event can be viewed at this link.
The summer event occured on July 7th and 9th with a total of 77 sites reporting. Of these sites 24 were found to be exceeding the Kentucky surface water standard of 240 CFU/100ml for e. coli. The complete data set for this event can be viewed at this link.
The fall event occured on September 8th and 10th with a total of 85 sites reporting. Of these sites 13 were found to be exceeding the Kentucky surface water standard of 240 CFU/100ml for e. coli. Additionally, all sites were analyzed as part of a low flow sample suite that included: chlorides, nitrate(NO3), nitrate-N(NO3-N), total nitrogen, total recoverable phosporus, and total suspended solids. The complete data set for this event can be viewed at this link.
